The outdoor collection Banjooli, by Sebastian Herkner for Moroso, is inspired by the courtship dance of ostrich birds. It is handmade in Senegal using colorful fishing yarns. The extended collection includes a bench, two side tables, and a lounge chair, all with bold color combinations made from woven threads normally used for fishing nets. Each piece is handwoven, and like us humans, has flaws.

This outdoor chair is the latest member of Moroso’s Afrique collection which includes designs by P. Urquiola and T. Boontje to name just two. Its curved design is inspired by the courtship dance of ostrich birds living in East Africa. Flapping the wings creates overhanging shapes which have been transferred to the silhouette of this armchair. The braiding on the steel frame is made with colorful fishing yarns which creates an interesting bi-colour pattern. Banjooli is handmade in Senegal, each product is a unique piece.
