The brand Kartell was founded by Giulio Castelli, a chemical engineer, with the intent to produce objects that have innovative features by applying new technologies produttive. He started his activity with the production of car accessories, household appliances, lighting and labware, which soon led him to success. Kartell's strengths were always technology and design: important essential with modelling plastic. Unlike natural materials, plasctic materials require these basic priciples.The first product to be created was "made by Kartell" launched in 1950, a ski designed by Carlo Barassi and Roberto Menghi and made in collaboration with Pirelli. From then on, Kartell has never stopped it's growth, until the fifties, when the manufacture of plastics began. Furniture, furnishings, lighting and home accessories have made the history of design, becoming universal icons of Italian style. Collaborations with famous designers of international fame such as Ron Arad , Philippe Starck, Mario Bellini, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Antonio Citterio, Rodoldo Dordoni, Ferruccio Laviani, Piero Lissoni, Nendo, Patricia Urquiola, Tokujin Yoshioka and many others continue today the evolution of the brand.
